Mepecaine is the local anesthetic of choice. It is particularly recommended for patients in whom vasoconstrictors are contraindicated and in dental procedures not requiring lengthy pulpal anaesthesia.
- Arterial pressure and pulse should be watched in emotional patients. - Inject slowly and in a continuous way, strictly away from the vessels, after repeated aspirations. - Incase of elevated doses, premedicate with benzodiazepine. - It should be used with caution in patients taking anticoagulants.

As directed by the physician or as follows: Mepecaine can be applied for local infiltration, field block and nerve block. The site of deposition of the solution is determined by the dentist according to the area of operative intervention . Up to one cartridge may be used for dental block. The dose injected may be increased according to each case. The maximum dose is 6.6-mg/kg body weight. (Content of Mepivacaine Hydrochloride/ cartridge 54.0 mg ± 10%). An adult dose of Mepivacaine hydrochloride should not generally exceed 400 mg and the total dose in 24 hours should not exceed 1 gm.
Mepivacaine hydrochloride as most other local anesthetics should be avoided in case of liver dysfunction, hypersensitivity to Mepivacaine and methylparaben, porphyria
